Our oceans are at the brink of disaster and unless we make a change, this could wreak havoc on marine life and mankind.
Over centuries, it was believed that because the ocean was so vast and so deep, it could cope with just about any kind of litter and rubbish that was dumped into it. However, this is obviously not the case and ocean pollution is becoming a detriment to life in the ocean as well as life onshore.
The past few decades have seen a substantial increase in the amount of pollution entering our waters. Every year, 8 million tonnes of plastic are dumped into the ocean, killing over 1 million sea birds and over 100,000 marine mammals annually.
