The 9. Swiss Innovation Forum gets international innovation experts together from a wide variety of professional fields. As promoted on this website previously, Swiss businesses can register for the Swiss Technology Award, which elects the best innovations and developments from Swiss firms, schools, universities and other institutions. The award is presented in three categories at the SIF in Basel on 20 November 2014.
This year, we are please to see two of the nine finalists coming from the environmental sector. TwingTec is one of them; their aim is to commercialize a new windpower technology which uses the available wind resources and the invested material resources in an optimal way. The core of their Wind Energy 2.0 technology is the Twing, a tethered wing which harnesses wind energy at variable altitudes. The mechanical energy of the Twing is transferred by the tether to the groundstation, where it is converted into electrical power.
Pfisterer Ixosil AG is also in the energy sector, specialising in high-current conductors and insulating high voltages. Regular use of oil and gas isolation have been made redundant through Pfisterers Ixosil dry cable terminations, which also reduce the risk for explosion and leaks.
GES wishes both teams the best of luck at the SIF 2014!
